Anxiety is defined in many different ways. In the medical field, it is considered a disorder that involves different characteristics such as worry or fear that interferes with everyday living. Many people would describe anxiety as a very strong, worrying feeling. It can lead to many physical attacks such as shortness of breath, tightened chest, dizziness, and even depression. The symptoms are usually self diagnosable, but it is more safe and efficient to go to your doctor.

There are multiple disorders of anxiety. Six popular disorders are: Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Social Anxiety, Specific Phobias, Panic Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). First,Generalized Anxiety Disorder is excessive worry with everyday life events. Secondly, Social Anxiety is excessive worry about interactions with other people whether it be a big crowd, or one-on-one conversation. Thirdly, Specific Phobias is an intense fear in certain situations or objects. In fourth,Panic Disorder are episodes of intense fear that could elevate very quickly and either be triggered of out of the blue. Fifth, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is excessive thoughts that lead to repetitive behavior. Last but not least is Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. This disorder is a person having difficulty with recovering from a traumatic event.

The recognition of anxiety and the tolls it takes on people of all ages are very slim. It is a daily struggle that affects a general part of the population. Observantly, there are many personal stories published online about their own anxiety struggles. Actually, anxiety isn't always a bad thing. It is self defense mechanism and works as some sort of alarm. For example, to get something in by the deadline or finding your homework. But it does have its consequences of becoming overwhelming and flood the mind with toxic thoughts.
